St Joseph Basilica Wedding
Ginger and Mike’s beautiful St Joseph Basilica wedding was a bilingual celebration of love and family.
It was a beautiful August evening when family and friends gathered at the stunning St Joseph Basilica in downtown Edmonton to witness Ginger and Mike become husband and wife. Their ceremony celebrated the coming together of two individuals and two families. Mike’s family presented readings in English, while Ginger’s family recited theirs in French. The couple also had their daughter stand with them as a bridesmaid. Although the church was full, the ceremony was intimate and sweet. Ginger and Mike exchanged their rings and vows, always keeping their eyes on one another.
To honour Mike’s love of all things sports, the wedding party loaded into the limousine and headed for Edmonton’s Rogers Place. While the new arena is not yet open, the historic community where the arena is located made for the perfect location for urban wedding photos. Mike and Ginger’s wedding day was a big, crazy, fun party.
With a quick toast to the newlyweds, the wedding party was soon off to the reception. The elegant wedding reception was held at Festival Place, a lovely indoor venue located in the heart of Sherwood Park. After a beautifully catered dinner and a few touching speeches, it was time to get the party started.
Once the music started, the dance floor was packed with guests. The Maid of Honour stole the show with her “Danse de l’aine celibataire” which translates to the “Dance of the Unwed Older Sibling”, where the older sibling performs an eccentric dance while wearing colourful handmade socks. The goal is for the sibling to collect money from guests and present it as a gift to the newlyweds.
