Red Deer Autumn Wedding
Ian and Kamera’s Red Deer autumn wedding was a beautiful weekend full of love and a tonne of crazy good times. Ian and Kamera have that special kind of love. It has held on through thick and thin and can stand the test of time and distance. They spent much of their early relationship provinces apart while going to school and working. However, not even the distance between Alberta and Saskatchewan could dilute the love that these two shared.
We first met Ian back in 2011 when he and Jess were part of a mutual friend’s wedding party at a destination wedding in Mexico. We were delighted to receive an email from Ian announcing his engagement to the love of his life. He inquired as to whether we would be available to photograph their wedding the following autumn. It is a very special privilege for us to photograph these important life moments for people. It becomes even more meaningful when we are there to show our love and support for friends.
In the autumn of 2014 we met up with Ian and his lovely fiancé Kamera for their engagement session in the Edmonton Mill Creek Ravine.
Ian and Kamera’s wedding ceremony was performed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The beautiful architecture of this building is owed to Canada’s own Douglas Cardinal. Family and friends gathered on this beautiful autumn day to witness the happy couple come together in matrimony and take their vows as husband and wife.
Following the ceremony Ian and Kamera along with their wedding party stopped at the local 7-11 convenience store for some snacks. Here Ian and Kamera decided to perform their own version of a unity ceremony. They united their two favourite types of Slurpees into one homogenous mixture of awesomeness.
Family gathered at Red Deer’s Heritage Ranch for portraits and what turned into a mini family reception. The yellow and orange leaves on the trees set against the bright blue autumn sky was a stunning backdrop for this afternoon portrait session.
A beautiful and elegant reception was held at the Westerner Park Chalet. Guests gathered for an intimate reception and deliciously catered dinner. Family and friends rose to the podium to share hilarious anecdotes, sweet stories and their best wishes to the happy couple. Listening to the speeches you could feel the love and kindness that Ian and Kamera have shared with their family and friends.
Once the speeches were finished and the cake was cut, the DJ dimmed the lights cuing Ian and Kamera to take the floor for their first dance. For months these two had been taking dance classes in preparation for this night – a beautifully choreographed waltz which left the guests in starry-eyed awe.
Thank you for inviting Deep Blue Photography to capturing your Red Deer autumn wedding and for treating us like we were part of the family.
