Ixtapa Destination Wedding

We met Eddie and Dixie while photographing one of their friend’s wedding back in 2015. They were sweet, bubbly and very in love. We were over the moon when they asked us to come along and photograph their Ixtapa destination wedding!.

The week long celebration took place at the Sunscape Dorado Pacifico in the picturesque city of Ixtapa. A few days before the wedding we ventured out with the couple and their friends to a sea turtle sanctuary. Standing on the beach at sunset we released our turtles and watched the sunset over the Pacific.

Eddie and Dixie have known each since high school.  They helped see each other through university, internships, co-op terms and months of long-distance relationship living. For the family and friends who gathered in Ixtapa, this day was many years in the making and a definite cause to celebrate.

The gentlemen had a pretty easy start to the morning with some beach volleyball and body surfing in the ocean. A mini-dudeoir session on the beach with the groom and his best men highlighted the morning.

The ladies had a much more relaxed morning in the spa getting their hair and makeup done. The bride invited her best friends and family to join her the morning of the wedding.

After a beautiful sunset ceremony in the resort’s garden area, Eddie and Dixie hosted an intimate beach reception. Dinner and speeches were followed by one of the most epic dance parties we have ever seen! The night ended with a roaring rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and a shirts-off-dance-off between the groomsmen.

It was a gorgeous week full of love, laugher and a few cerveza. Ixtapa is a beautiful city with a vibrant culture and a stunning view of the sunset.
