There is nothing we love more than camping in the mountains, we are lucky enough to have met some amazing couples who love adventure and the mountains as much as we do. Vanessa and Carter’s Canmore engagement pictures are so much more than your average portrait session. Get ready to fall in love.
The Banff and Canmore area of the rocky mountains is known around the world for stunning mountains and gorgeous scenery. We love having the opportunity to travel (relatively easily) to the mountains to capture couples in love, surrounded by such an epic backdrop. Carter and Vanessa are also crazy about the mountains – in the summer they hike and in the winter they embrace the snow and cold and take on the ski hills.
We were lucky enough to catch up with Vanessa and Carter on a gorgeous August afternoon for their Canmore engagement pictures. We climbed some hills, took in the view and basked in the warm golden light spilling over the mountains. As the sun began to fall behind the mountains we set off for darker skies, in search of the Milky Way.
For the last few years we have played around with astrophotography. In Edmonton we are lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis on a regular basis and to have a front row seat for the Milky Way and many meteor showers. On this night we were fortunate enough to combine our love for capturing epic engagement photos with our passion for astrophotography.
Two Jack Lake is located just outside of Banff town and gave us the perfect south-west view to capture the Milky Way. To get the brightest stars and best view of the Milky Way we had to stay out long enough for the bright summer moon to set. The stars were not the only thing that took our breath away that night. Carter and Vanessa absolutely rocked their night star engagement session.
