Edmonton Country Wedding

Kaili and Shawn’s Edmonton country wedding was held at their beautiful family farm just south of Entwistle, Alberta. A stunning acreage which backs on to a pristine lake and miles of wilderness.

This Edmonton country wedding day was full of beautiful and dramatic weather. Bright blue skies traded off an on with rolling dark clouds full of thunder, lightening and rain. It is a sign of good fortune for the bride and groom if it rains on their wedding day – Kaili and Shawn have a lot of luck coming their way!

Kaili and her ladies gathered at the house for a morning of hair, makeup and mimosas. Keeping their fingers crossed for a few hours of sunshine. Eight beautiful bridesmaids helped Kaili into her wedding dress, touch up her makeup and slip on her shoes as she prepared to meet Shawn for a private first look.

The family farm (and ceremony location) backed onto a beautiful ravine area that included a forest of tall trees and even a well-stocked fishing pond. It was the perfect location for romantic country wedding portraits.

Guests from all across Alberta had travelled to join Kaili and Shawn for an intimate outdoor wedding ceremony. Family and friends were quick to cheer loudly for the announcement of the bride and groom. Nature also showed its excitement with a sudden thunder and rainstorm as the couple walked up the aisle for the first time as husband and wife.

Short bursts of rain were no match for the energy of this wedding as the party loaded up and made their way to the reception waiting for them at Whitby Hall. We made one short (but important) stop at Kaili and Shawn’s house so that they could have a moment to celebrate with their bulldog Charlie.

Something we learned about Kaili very early, she loves books. So it was fitting that all of the décor was centered around literature, including her adorable tiny book cake toppers.It was a lively reception full of touching toasts to the bride and groom and a tonne of tasty homemade treats.
